Vision & Mission

ABC – Advocates for Babies in Crisis Society, was started in 2013 by a small group of women in Hyderabad India. We were originally only looking to donate old clothes and toys and found a local orphanage for these items. After visiting the orphanage, we realized the sheer logistical challenges of limited staff caring for so many children. We asked to be able to visit and care for the younger children. There is a lot of research that shows the positive benefits of touch especially to preterm and low birth weight babies. They feed better and spend less time in hospitals. And yes, we could see improvement in the way they responded and ‘smiled’ – most of them for the first time.

Thanks to our very persistent and dedicated founder Lindsey Ford, a few months later the group was given access to visit weekly and provide some much-needed TLC – Tender Loving Care for the little ones. We provide basic supplies to the orphanage - like formula, diapers, blankets, clothes, medicines etc. We have also started to work with a home for special needs children.

After interacting with the children, we found that there were some babies with special needs and had serious undetected medical conditions. We were able to work with the orphanage and take these children to private hospitals, and paid for their treatment, medications and diagnostics required. Our staff stays at the hospital with the babies and makes sure they are comfortable with a familiar face around.

Over the years, we have established a good working relationship with the orphanages and continue to work with them in improving the living and medical conditions for the children. We have recently constructed a playground for the toddlers who did not step out of the building or hardly felt sunlight on their skin. It was a surprise for them which they now love and enjoy to the fullest.

A pre-school set up is in progress for the older kids and its progress is pretty much astounding to us as it looked like a gigantic project, but was achievable at a short period with the help of generous donors and hardworking volunteers who have put in a lot of time and effort to make it possible.

ABC is growing rapidly in terms of its projects to fulfil the medical and basic needs of the kids that need not just tender loving care, but some generous hearts who help the Board achieve what is required.

ABC is 100% volunteer based. All funds received, are used for the needs of the children we work for. Our Board comprises of 8 amazing women who share the same passion and have the right attitude to make ABC grow on a path that will continue working towards the betterment of the kids who are in need.

Our ONLY goal is the health and happiness of the children that we work with.
